Bio

Robbert Doelwijt Jr. (b; 1992) is an Amsterdam, NL based artist and director with Surinamese roots creating work that explores immersion. He has worked across documentary, commercial, and fiction formats. More recently, his work focuses on motion picture installations in art spaces. For his first solo exhibition ‘Remembering myself’ (2023) in Tokyo, he explored his identity through the creation of a mutoscope and live performance. Part of the work involved blending the Surinamese folk song, Wan Aisa with jazz in Tokyo, exploring Black culture away from its roots.
